Discovery - Solomon Islands

Event Description

Be a part of a team promoting God’s Word in the Solomon Islands!

This team will have a split focus.  One half of the team will be solely focusing on serving the Festival of Pacific Arts.  This is a once every four years event where participants from 26 nations around the Pacific will show off their cultural arts - music, song, dance, drama, poetry, paintings, stories, and crafts.  We will providing training on how to use these cultural art forms to worship God and express their faith.

The other half of our team will focus on language work - translation, literacy and Scripture Use.  We will assist translators, attend a S.A.L.T. workshop where church leaders will be trained to lead impacting Bible studies, help with a literacy workshop, help teach a literacy class, distribute language Bibles and more.

After one week of training in Dallas, Texas, the team will fly to the Solomon Islands.   Team members will be working with Wycliffe missionaries, Solomon Islanders and people from the various nations of the Pacific.  Other possible activities include involvement with a Biblical story-telling workshop and production of radio spots promoting God’s Word.

Come expecting to grow in new ways as you see God’s Word through other cultures.

Prerequisites:  coursework or equivalent experience in videography, ethnoarts (music, dance, theatre,...), communications, journalism, broadcasting, media, linguistics, translation or related field.
