Our Vision

At Café Wycliffe, we believe in the value of investing in the next generation of young people whom God will call to the ends of the earth to serve Him. That's why we have created an atmosphere where young and old can share their passion for missions and Bible translation and spur one another on to change the world by making the Word of God available to people of every tribe, nation and language.

So, if you're curious, interested or passionate about Bible translation, missions and God's heart for the unreached people groups of the world, come and join us. We'd love to meet and get to know you!

Meeting May:In February 2011, 19 college teams from across Canada came together for Race to 2025:Congo II.

Climbing frozen waterfalls, trekking canyons on snowshoes, orienteering through dense forests, 76 young people searched for a hidden 'African' mountain village in the Canadian Rockies.  Bridging the gap of the adrenaline of adventure sport and the true adventure to which Jesus calls His church, dozens of Bible college students raised over $60,000 to help make disciples for Jesus in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

DR Congo is one of the three highest Bible translation need regions in the world. Spiritual opposition is strong, but after decades of blood, sweat and tears the final thrust is on. Millions of Congolese in 120 language groups do not have a single verse of Scripture in their heart language. Many do not even have an alphabet!

Language Survey and Trauma Healing:  Funds raised through Race to 2025:Congo II are now empowering Congolese church partners to push across the research barrier and lay the foundation for millions to receive God’s Word of eternal hope. Despite war, famine, oppression and genocide, the victory belongs to Jesus! As a powerful outworking of newly translated Scriptures in other regions, funds will also be used to give local believers access to Bible based trauma healing tools to help fellow Congolese deal with the terrors of brutal civil war. In the past 12 years, more than five million have died in the conflict.

This week, we will have members from our guest 'villages', friends from both the Kenyan and Nepali communities, with us to help celebrate.  As well, we may even be able to connect with Rick Olney via Skype, who has just arrived in DR Congo to help with language survey.

Our Music:  Congolese friends from the Christian City Multicultural Church in Calgary

Meeting Feb. 7: Using Your Gifts to Reach Your Community

Speaker: Josiah Atkins

Josiah Atkins was born to missionary parents in Nairobi, Kenya in August, 1987. He grew up in Ontario and moved to Calgary almost six years ago. He has been involved with short-term missions to Haiti, El Salvador, East Africa and Sudan. Among other things, he has helped build houses, served in youth programs and participated in Muslim ministry.

Recently, Josiah was accepted to SEND International as a church planter. He will be doing camp ministry and using visual art as a means of sharing the gospel in Kosovo. He just got word that they are hoping to purchase a building with plans included for an art studio! Presently, he is doing fundraising as he needs full support pledged before he can go.

Come hear Josiah share from his experiences cross-culturally and encourage you to use your gifts for God's glory to reach the lost in your own community.
