Finding Strength and Finding Christ

Fellow Bible translation enthusiasts, We are the next generation of Bible translators! We will be the bearers of the Word of life bringing an eternal hope and the message of reconciliation to God through Christ. We have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel (see 1 Thessalonians 2:4). At times, I think, “Such a responsibility! How am I ever going to do it right?” I get bogged down with fear knowing that I am unable. But 2 Timothy 1:7 tells me, “God has not given us a spirit of…See More

Andrew Scott Hodge replied to Dagney Stone's discussion Which would be better Discusssion for week of April 18
"Certainly there is a place in life for both: first for works of mercy (see Titus 3:14), and second for punishment and justice (see Deuteronomy 17:5). But the question is, “Which is better?” I tend to think that the former is more…"

Andrew Scott Hodge replied to Dagney Stone's discussion Why do we need Bibles in every language? Why don't we just teach people to read English?
"Take a Bibleless language group of about one thousand members and consider the total sum of hours it would take for each member of that language group to learn English. Though this number may still amount to less than the amount it takes for a…"

A Quote of Erasmus

I came upon this quote in a Christian history book and thought it to be the perfect thing for those at Wycliffe Next Generation to read. Erasmus wrote it as a note to the reader in his book Paraphrases of St. Matthew. I fully agree with him about all but one of the things he says. Concerning the languages in which Christ’s “divine philosophy” was founded (I take this to mean the biblical languages); he mentions that those languages are Hebrew, Greek, and Latin when in truth they’re actually…See More

How did you find Wycliffe Next Generation?
My mom found a link to it on Wycliffe's website.
Have you ever attended a Get Global or Discovery trip?
No.
Jesus commanded His disciples saying, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Again Jesus’ words were recorded as saying, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19). The gospel is to be preached to all. None should be excluded. Paul said, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). God does not differentiate between race, social status, or gender. We all have sin and we all need the gospel. It is for these reasons that I wish to devote my life to Bible translation. So that no one will be refused access to the holy word of God.

Hey Andrew,
Great to have you on board with WycliffeNextGen.com! I'm the director of WNG based out of Orlando, FL. I see you're interested in languages and Bible translation and that my colleague, Dagney, gave you some good encouragement regarding the role you can have in Bible translation. I hope you take some time to explore our 2011 trips through Get Global. I think you might really be challenged and will grow from one of those experiences. Look forward to seeing you around the site!

hey Andrew! welcome! very glad to have you. So cool that you are interested in languages. Certainly, if you want to be in a place of eternal significance, we are seeing the greatest acceleration in Bible translation in history, right now! We could very well see all languages have their own translation in your lifetime! Hope this site is fun and informative. If there's anything you are looking for you don't find, let me know and I'll bet I could get it up for you!
Again, we're glad to have you!
