Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him” (Psalm 91:1-2, NLT).

When missions workers return to their home sending countries after serving overseas for significant periods of time, it’s not always easy for their children to feel at home. For example, one family that returned to the U.S. a few months ago asked for prayer for their two children:

“Our children are struggling to adjust to a life and culture that is foreign to them here. Our daughter has started well in her public high school, although she finds it difficult to make friends. Our son studies at home this year, and we need to find appropriate social outlets for him.”

Their prayer request is echoed by many such families who return to find re-entry to a home culture presents many challenges.

  • Pray for grace for these children and the many others who are in similar situations, and wisdom for their parents during these times of transition.
  • Pray for encouragement and strength for each child that must adjust to new schools and living situations. Ask God to provide new meaningful friendships when needed most.
