Wycliffe: Next Generation

involving students in Bible Translation, short term missions and internships

“Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise…” (1 Chronicles 16:23-25, NLT).

Wycliffe staff graduating from a World Arts program learn how to research traditional art forms in the cultural context of a language community. They team up with local Christians to take newly translated Scripture and incorporate the truth of God’s Word in each local culture’s performing and visual arts. The goal is to see all cultures using all of their gifts to worship and enjoy God.

  • Pray that World Arts students at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics in Dallas, Texas, will be well prepared for their future work as arts specialists. Pray for wisdom for the teachers as they select the most relevant training activities possible.
  • Pray for students who are learning how to work alongside local singers, actors, dancers, storytellers, and other performers in order to gain an understanding of how the arts function among each people group.
  • Ask God to build within the students an ability to help spark artistic creation in areas such as Scripture use, literacy, community development, and health education.
  • Pray that many people would be transformed by the Scripture-based messages that they create.
